About NUIMSAT
Nkwi University Institute of Management, Science, Arts and Technology - NUIMSAT is a natural growth from GCA (Georgian City Academy) founded in 1989 to prepare young men and women in the technical fields of electricity, building, construction, woodwork, computer education and secretariat studies.
For 26 years GCA prepared students for GCE “O” & “A” levels. In 2016 the Promoter of the school applied to the Ministers of Higher Education for authorization to run an HND program leading to a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)
The Nkwi University Institute of Management, Science, Arts and Technology, abbreviated as NUIMSAT, is established in Wombong, Njinikom Sub-Division as a Polytechnic. Njinikom is one of the subdivisions in Boyo Division, an area which is totally devoid of institutions of higher learning. Boyo Division produces thousands of students each year from high school who are often compelled to move elsewhere for higher education or are simply constrained to give up higher education.
The neighboring Menchum Division faces the same dilemma and graduating students from high schools there will equally be relieved if Boyo had an institution of higher learning.
NUIMSAT admits qualified students from high school, or individuals who have a pass in GCE A/L or Baccalaureate, shall provide three years of education leading to a Technical Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech). Students shall have the option of choosing between three departments: Department of Medical Sciences; Department of Business and Management Sciences and the Department of the Arts. Each department also has options of specific professions.
The promoters of NUIMSAT got inspiration from the Georgian City Academy, a high school which is operated by them in Wombong and whose students upon graduation are compelled to move to Bamenda or beyond in search of higher education. The key promoter of NUIMSAT too is a university Don with lots of experience in management and academics. The location of NUIMSAT in Wombong is quite strategic. There is ample land for expansion and accessibility to the rest of Boyo Division and Bamenda, the headquarters of the Northwest Region of Cameroon.
An appropriate number of classrooms has been programmed, accompanied by a good library, medical science laboratory, computer labs and internet service. A hostel with the capacity to lodge 500 students shall be constructed and fitted out with the required furniture. Appropriate sports facilities, a restaurant and canteen, and a small medical unit shall be provided. These facilities shall be increased and improved upon as school population grows. For transportation of students a bus shall be acquired. Other facilities shall include organized tours and exchange visits.
Our Mission
NUIMSAT is created to provide specialized and practical education to the youths of Boyo Division and other parts of the Northwest Region, which will in three years lead to the Technical Bachelor’s Degree. The mission of NUIMSAT is thus to build the capacities of its students for job creation or their abilities to easily fit into the job market.
Our Vision
NUIMSAT has the vision of extending its departments to cover electricity, motor mechanics, civil engineering, mechanical engineering and other important options that are important for industrial growth. NUIMSAT will also promote the industrialization process in Cameroon and strive to add job search and job placement for its students to its services.
